Trip Details

The fishery in and around Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tarpon Springs is diverse, with numerous species prized by the sport fishing community. Below is a description of just some of the available fishing opportunities:

During the summer months you'll find snook cruising just off beaches surrounding Tampa Bay, and throughout most of the year, you'll also find snook in the bay itself. They're not found in as abundant numbers as redfish, so they can be a bit more difficult to locate. The Florida Department of Wildlife enforces a catch and release policy at various times of the year. But, even if you can't keep your fish, they're worth fishing for due to their size and ability to fight.

While smaller juvenile tarpon can be found throughout the year, the world renowned Tarpon run occurs for only a few short months in late spring and summer. If you're lucky enough to be fishing with Capt. Billy during this time and the tarpon are running, prepare yourself for some truly spectacular fishing. You'll be fishing within just a few miles of the beach, and there's a real potential to catch an absolute monster fish.

Found in abundance year-round throughout Tampa Bay, the opportunities for redfish are endless. Both shallow water and deep water fishing opportunities exist. A particularly challenging approach is site casting shallow grass flats for redfish. You'll visually locate the fish in shallow water. Once located, Capt. Billy will bring you within casting distance, where you can test your ability to make the perfect cast! For the less experienced angler, there are plenty of other ways Capt. Billy can get you on the bull redfish of your dreams.
